About PBPA Unit 39

The Police Benevolent and Protective Association (PBPA) Decatur Unit 39 consists of only full-time and retired Police Officers of the Decatur IL Police Department. We currently have over 242 active and retired members.

Each year we offer two shopping events. The first is in August before the start of school where approximately 75 Decatur/Macon County children are selected and invited to shop with several officers at Kohls. Each child is able to purchase clothing, shoes or anything else they need for school. It is our belief that every child deserves to have a positive start to the new school year.

In December, students are selected for our Christmas time shopping program at Wal-Mart (North). Every child is able to shop with a Police Officer from the Decatur Police to purchase themselves, siblings or other family members gifts for Christmas.

The children for our shopping program are referred to us through Decatur Public School District #61, local schools in surrounding communities, Big Brother Big Sisters, Child First Center, Growing Strong, DCFS, local churches, and Officer referrals.

In recent years, the Decatur PBPA Unit #39 has also supported numerous local organizations:

We are an Organization that believes in being Benevolent and active in our community. We are a non-profit organization that relies on the generous donations from the community during our fundraising efforts to support our mission. We appreciate each and every donation we receive. All of the money raised is donated back to the Decatur/Macon County community during our community outreach programs.
